The Treasury Summer Internship runs from May 27 to August 4, 2025, in Washington, DC. Interns will work full-time across three rotating teams within the Treasury, including Asset Management & Advisory, Capital Markets & Investments, Treasury Operations, and Pension & Endowments. Over ten weeks, you will receive tailored onboarding, participate in weekly discussions, and complete a capstone project.
Teams and Activities:
Up to 16 interns will join Treasury’s 16 teams this summer, each with a unique rotation schedule for a varied experience. Treasury has four main departments—Asset Management & Advisory, Capital Markets & Investments, Treasury Operations, and Pension & Endowments—plus the Treasury Risk, Compliance, and Controls team. Interns will be paired with a mentor and coordinator for each rotation to offer guidance. They will work on specific projects or tasks assigned by their team. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a World Bank Treasury Summer Internship Programme, applicants must meet these basic standards:
- Must be in the second-to-last year of a four-year college degree programme and have a demonstrated interest in finance, business, economics, or a related discipline.
- Must be able to complete a college degree between December 2025 and September 2026
- They must have a strong academic record at their institution or university.
- Must be available full-time throughout the internship;
- A concurrent employment contract or training is not permitted.
What are the Characteristics of a Successful Applicant?
Successful applicants often have any or all of the following characteristics in addition to the core eligibility requirements:
- Having prior paid employment experience, an internship, or leadership in a financial group or club is strongly advised.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills and presentation abilities;
- Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to interact and build effective relationships to achieve the team’s goals;
- Proactive, resourceful, and adaptable to work on a variety of assignments and quickly changing business requirements and priorities;
- Knowledge of computer languages such as Python, as well as specialised tools for handling and visualising economic and financial data;
- Data management requires strong research, analytical, and quantitative abilities.
- Ability to study, retrieve, and process financial and economic data from a variety of source systems and repositories, including Bloomberg, World Bank Group, or International Monetary Fund databases, as well as internet sources;
- The strictest ethical standards;
- It is advantageous to be fluent in a second language.

The Evaluation Procedure
