DAAD offers Scholarships for the Development-Related Courses (EPOS) program (DAAD EPOS Scholarships) for students from developing countries and emerging economies to pursue their master’s degree or Ph.D. program in Germany in 2026.

About the program:

The EPOS program is offered to students from the five continents listed below who wish to pursue a master’s degree / PhD in development-related fields. If you apply for a DAAD Scholarship, this program is fully funded and pays all expenses, such as a monthly allowance, travel, health insurance, etcetera.

Benefits of the DAAD EPOS Scholarships

The DAAD scholarship provides great funding for the duration of the study program that includes the following:

  • Monthly allowance of 992 Euros for the master’s degree and 1300 Euros for Ph.D. studies
  • Health insurance payments
  • Travel cost (if not paid by candidate country or other organizations)
  • Under certain circumstances, scholarship holders may receive the following additional benefits:
    • Monthly rent subsidy
    • Monthly allowance for accompanying members of the family

Eligibility and Requirements

Here are some general requirements for the academic year 2026/27; please visit the specific study program webpage for detailed information:

  • English language proficiency for Programs taught in English (TOEFL IBT 80 or IELTS 6
  • German DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 for the programs taught in the German language.
  • Two years of work experience
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree with a result above the average
  • Not be graduated before six years
  • Be a national of eligible countries.

Common Required Documents

Please prepare these commonly required documents for your DAAD EPOS Scholarships:

  • Language proficiency proof (English taught program TOEFL / IELTS. German taught program DSH 2)
  • Currently employment proof
  • Motivation letter (Hand signed)
  • DAAD Application form (Signed)
  • CV (hand-signed. Use http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/)
  • Recommendation letter with letterhead, signature, and official stamped (from university and employer)
  • Work experience certificate
  • Bachelor degree certificate
  • Academic transcripts
  • High school graduation certificate (Shahadatnama)

  • Applicants can apply directly to the degree program they want to study. They need to read the complete instructions and apply to the university.
  • Selected applicants will be suggested for DAAD Scholarships.
