This programme specifically targets students enrolled in or about to enrol in full-time M.A. or PhD programmes at universities outside Korea. The scholarship aims to support those exploring various aspects of Korean culture, history, politics, and more by offering financial aid and other essential resources.

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must meet these requirements:

  • Must be enrolled (or about to enrol) as a full-time student outside of Korea.
  • Students in professional training programmes (e.g., MBA, law, interpretation) are not eligible.
  • Must not hold a Ph.D. degree.
  • Must hold citizenship or permanent residency in a country outside of Korea.
  • Korean citizens must have permanent residency outside of Korea as of August 2024.

Required Documents

All applicants must submit these documents:

  • Online Application: Complete the application form on the K.F. portal.
  • Study/Research Proposal: A detailed proposal outlining your research goals and bibliography.
  • Reference Letters: Three letters of recommendation, including one from your thesis/dissertation supervisor.
  • Academic Transcripts: Transcripts from your undergraduate and graduate studies.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Detailing your academic and professional background
  • Proof of Nationality/Residency: A copy of your I.D. or residency permit.

  • Create an individual account on the K.F. application portal.
  • Fill out the online application form and upload all required documents in Korean or English.
  • Ensure you submit all materials by the deadline. You cannot save and return to the application later, so gather all necessary documents beforehand.
  • Use the portal to request reference letters, which your referees must submit by the specified deadline.
