Eligibility Criteria

What are the requirements for applying for the EPS?

  • Applicants must be displaced students who have relocated to Japan through an education pathways program administered by Pathways Japan or are attending a partner language school of Pathways Japan.
  • Must be 25 or younger at enrollment (April 1, 2025).
  • Be single with no dependents.
  • Japanese language proficiency is equivalent to JLPT N3 level or higher.
  • Open to all nationalities.

Required Documents

Please prepare and submit these documents:

  • Online application form (available from September 1 to October 1, 2024)
  • Proof of high school completion (diploma and English translation)
  • High school transcript (last three years, with English translation if needed)
  • National/standardized examination results
  • Two recommendation letters from high school teachers or college/university faculty members
  • English proficiency test score (TOEFL 79, IELTS 6.5, Duolingo English Test 110)
  • Personal statement in English (500-600 words)
  • Short essay on a current issue in English (400-500 words)

Selection Dates

  • Application review and document screening from October to November 2024
  • Interviews for shortlisted candidates.
  • Final results announcement on December 2, 2024.
