Are you a young scholar passionate about human rights in Asia? Do you have research or ideas on pressing human rights issues and want to engage with others? The 2025 International Conference on Human Rights: Youth in Asia (2025 IHR) is your perfect platform. This prestigious conference invites young scholars from diverse academic backgrounds to share their original research, fostering a collaborative environment for Asian human rights discourse.

As the third edition of this impactful Conference, the 2025 ICHR will occur in March 2025 at the University of Tokyo. Organised by the East Asia Young Scholars Association (EAYSA), Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) Tokyo, and the Graduate Programme on Human Security (HSP), the Conference is an inclusive and intergenerational opportunity for youth to contribute to the ongoing development of human rights in Asia. Whether presenting or attending, participants can explore, debate, and discuss key regional human rights challenges.

In a hybrid format, the event offers flexibility for participants to engage either in-person or online, ensuring accessibility for young scholars across the globe. Eligibility Criteria

The following are the eligibility criteria for the ICHR 2025:

  • Submission is open to young scholars from all academic backgrounds and countries
  • Abstracts must focus on original research related to Asian human rights.
  • Applicants can only submit abstracts via the official Form (email submissions are unacceptable).
  • Submission format can only include.doc or.docx format; other formats will be unacceptable.
  • Abstracts should include an introduction, methodology, findings, and conclusion (or relevant components).
  • Submit in English (400–800 words) or Japanese (800–1400 words).
  • A consistent referencing style is required (not included in word count).
  • Priority goes to abstracts showcasing original research and academic rigour.
  • Submission indicates agreement to terms, conditions, and potential digital publication.
  • Hybrid event: in-person participation is encouraged but optional.
  • Submission deadline adherence is necessary, and the organisers will apply a double-masked peer review.
