Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for an International Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be a citizen of a nation other than the United States, or if you live here, have a nonimmigrant visa. Women who hold U.S. citizenship, permanent residency in the United States, or dual citizenship with another nation, either now or at any point during the fellowship year, are not eligible.
• Have completed coursework leading to the completion of a U.S. bachelor’s degree, whether obtained domestically or overseas.
• Plan to dedicate oneself entirely to the suggested academic program for the fellowship year.
• After completing their education, intend to return home to seek a professional job.
• Have an acceptable TOEFL or IELTS score (TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Test): 79; TOEFL Essentials: 8.5; Revised TOEFL Paper-Delivered Test: 60; IELTS: 6.5) to attest to your ability in English.
• Applicants for master’s, first professional degree, and doctorate programs must have applied by November 15th to a recognized school for the fellowship year, and they must include the school’s name in their international fellowship application. Fellows must submit their award acceptance paperwork with formal confirmation from the school, even though acceptance is not needed at the time of application.
• Candidates for postdoctoral positions must show verification of their doctorate; possess an M.F.A. or a doctorate designated as a research degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., D.B.A., or D.M.); and specify the location of their study.
• During the fellowship year, candidates for master’s/first professional degree and doctorate programs must be enrolled at U.S. approved educational institutions situated in the country.
