- IELTS Academic: scored from 0 to 9 in bands, widely accepted worldwide
- TOEFL iBT: scored from 0 to 120, common for North American universities
- PTE Academic: scored from 10 to 90, computer-based with fast results
- Duolingo English Test: scored from 10 to 160, taken online at home
2Choosing the right one
Check which tests your universities and your visa accept before you book. Not every university accepts every test, and visa rules can be stricter than university rules.
3How long results last
Most English test results are valid for two years. Make sure yours will still be valid on your application deadline.
4Preparing
Take an official practice test first to see where you stand, then focus on your weakest section. Timing matters as much as language: practise under exam conditions.
