Achieve Atlanta offers quick emergency grants to its own scholars who face an unexpected bill that could force them to leave college. This program is run by Scholarship America, which reviews the applications and pays the awards.

- Grant: up to $500 per request ($300 maximum for food)
- How often: one emergency grant per academic year
- Decision: usually within one business day; paid within two business days

Who can apply
- Only active Achieve Atlanta scholars (receiving Achieve Atlanta funds this semester), or students Achieve Atlanta confirms as eligible
- Currently enrolled in college
- Facing an unexpected, essential cost that may affect your studies
What it can pay for
- Housing, utilities, medical or dental bills, childcare, transport, moving, internet, food
- Not covered: tuition and fees, study abroad or other non-essential travel, technology, books, or extra spending money
Documents
- Proof of the expense (bill, invoice or receipt) showing your name, the vendor’s name, address and phone, the itemised cost and the date
- Proof of identity
The grant may count as taxable income; check with a tax professional.
