A Day at the Library

Level A2 · Study · about 4 minutes

Tap a word for its meaning.

On Saturday, Daniel had an important exam to prepare for, so he decided to spend the day at the city library.

He arrived at nine o'clock, just as the doors opened. The library was quiet and almost empty. He found a table near the window and took out his notes. For the first two hours he read his textbook and wrote short summaries of each chapter.

At eleven, he felt hungry, but food was not allowed inside. He went to a small café across the road and bought a sandwich and a cup of tea. While he was eating, he met Mei, a student from his class. She was also studying for the exam.

They went back to the library together and tested each other with questions. Daniel noticed that he remembered much more when he explained ideas out loud. By five o'clock they were both tired, but they felt ready. "Same time next week?" Mei asked. Daniel smiled and said yes.
