Southern Cross University (SCU) in Australia offers Higher Degree Scholarships 2025 for International and Domestic Students through its Graduate School. Graduate School scholarships are part of Southern Cross University‘s total scholarship package, which includes several postgraduate scholarships made possible by the university’s generous private donors, government and business groups, other partners, and the university itself.

The Higher Degree Scholarship at SCU is covered by the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Government Scholarships for domestic and international students. At SCU, the RTP scholarships for domestic students include Domestic Stipend, which is tax-free and provides a living allowance of AU$32,192 per annum (2024 rate indexed annually), payable in fortnightly instalments.

The RTP for international students at SCU includes International Fee Offset and Stipend Scholarships. The scholarships cover a living allowance of AU$32,192 per annum (2024 rate indexed annually) plus a Tuition Fee Offset. To be eligible for this scheme, international students should have enrolled in full-time, on-campus courses for the duration of their candidature.

An applicant will not be chosen for an Australian Government RTP Scholarship Stipend unless the University is satisfied that the candidate fits the scholarship eligibility criteria and the entrance requirements of the award to which they are applying.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Applications are open to both national and international candidates
  • Applicants must have enrolled in a full-time on-campus Master’s degree or PhD at Southern Cross University before applying for the Higher Degree Scholarships at SCU.
  • All candidates should meet their desired study programme and SCU admission criteria.
  • Australian Government RTP Scholarship Stipend and Fee Offset are only available if the University is satisfied that the candidate meets the scholarship eligibility criteria and the entrance requirements of the award they are applying to.
  • Candidates only get consideration for this scholarship if their documentary evidence is complete and sufficient.
  • All international students should be fee-paying as normal.
  • If the applicants have not completed their undergraduate studies in English or their first language is not English, they must provide English language proficiency test scores: IELTS Academic (or equivalent tests): 7.0 in Writing and all other bands not less than 6.5.

  • 1-2-page research proposal
  • Copy of birth certificate or passport
  • Copy of citizenship certificate (If International applicant)
  • Academic transcripts and certificates copy
  • Copy of English Language Proficiency evidence (If International applicant)
  • Foreign language documents copy and a scan of a certified copy or original, with English translation (If applicable)
  • Any publication copies in English and number them from 1 to 5. (i.e., link to publication/URL, and more.)
