- Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship is available to students enrolled in a thesis-based graduate program at StFX in research areas related to Nova Scotia’s priority sectors, including:

- Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be enrolled full-time in a thesis-based graduate program at StFX.
- Have achieved first-class standing in their most recent academic studies.
- Conduct research aligned with Nova Scotia’s priority sectors.
- Be within their normal time to completion in September of the next academic year.
- Not have previously received an NSGS award for more than 2 years (Master’s) or 4 years (PhD).
For renewal of the scholarship, recipients must:
- Maintain good academic standing as per the StFX Academic Calendar.
- Remain enrolled full-time as defined in the StFX Academic Calendar.
- Submit an annual progress report and renewal application (by February 15).
- Demonstrate how their research contributes to Nova Scotia’s economic and social well-being.
- Receive approval from the Committee on Graduate Studies based on research progress.
How to Apply
- Consult with your Faculty Supervisor and Departmental Graduate Studies Coordinator.
- Complete the StFX Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarships application form.
- Submit the application online via the ROMEO researcher portal to the Office of the Associate Vice President, Research, Graduate and Professional Studies by February 15.
- Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
All applications will be reviewed and ranked by the Graduate Studies Committee or a delegated review committee, based on:
- Merit of the research proposal.
- Excellence of the student.
- Alignment with Nova Scotia’s priority sectors.
- Impact on the economic and/or social well-being of Nova Scotians.
Final decisions will be made in March each year.
