About
NUS traces its history to a medical school founded in 1905 and is Singapore's oldest and largest university. Its main campus is at Kent Ridge in the west of the island.
It is strong in computing, engineering, business, law and medicine, and many programmes include overseas exchanges or internships. Singapore is safe, English-speaking and a regional business hub, which makes it popular with students from across Asia.

Entry requirements
Teaching is in English. If English was not the medium of your previous studies, NUS asks for a test such as IELTS or TOEFL; it has typically asked for IELTS 6.5 overall (with 6.5 in reading and writing) or a TOEFL iBT score in the low 90s. Confirm the current scores on NUS admissions.
Costs
International undergraduates can take the Singapore government's MOE Tuition Grant, which lowers fees in exchange for agreeing to work in Singapore for three years after graduating. For Computing (AY2026/27 intake) that means S$21,400 a year with the grant (S$18,050 for ASEAN students) or S$39,700 without it.
Figures last checked October 2026. Fees change every year, so confirm them with the university before you apply.
