Oxford, United Kingdom
The oldest university in the English-speaking world.
Teaching at Oxford dates back to around 1096. The university is made up of more than 30 colleges, and every student belongs to one: it is where you live, eat and often have small-group teaching.
Oxford is known for its tutorial system, in which undergraduates meet tutors in very small groups to discuss their work. Graduate students join a department for their course and a college for community and support. Many of the world's best-known scholarships, such as the Rhodes and Clarendon, fund study here.
Oxford graduate courses ask for English at either the standard level (IELTS 7.0 overall with at least 6.5 in each part) or the higher level (IELTS 7.5 overall with at least 7.0 in each part). Each course page says which level applies.
Fees are set per course. The one-year MSc in Advanced Computer Science, for example, lists an overseas fee of £46,350 for 2027–28. Oxford publishes a living-cost estimate each year; college accommodation often makes the first year easier to budget.
Figures last checked October 2026. Fees change every year, so confirm them with the university before you apply.
