Financial Benefits – Fully & Partially Funded Scholarships
Universiti Malaya provides two types of PhD scholarships:
Full Scholarship:
- Monthly Stipend: Up to RM3,500 per month
- Tuition Fee Coverage
- Duration: 6 semesters (36 months) or until completion of the PhD program
Partial Scholarship:
- Covers Full Tuition Fees
- Duration: 6 semesters or until PhD completion
Eligibility Criteria for UM Excellence PhD Scholarship 2025
To be eligible for this Malaysia PhD scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Open to all nationalities (Malaysians & international students)
- Must apply for a full-time PhD research program at Universiti Malaya
- Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA 3.5+ (or equivalent)
- Master’s Degree (By Research) or Mixed Mode (CGPA 3.70+/4.00)
- English Language Proficiency:
- IELTS: 6.5 Band
- TOEFL: 73-93
- CEFR: B2 Level
- Age Limit: Maximum 35 years at the time of application
- Full Scholarship recipients must not have other funding or sponsorships
- Must maintain full-time student status throughout the PhD program
Note: The English proficiency test must be valid within two years from the test date.
